There are a million rumors flying around the internet from a million different forums claiming that the new Nikon D3 sensor is actually Sony's 24.5mp beast of a sensor, and it was actually dumb down to be 12mp for the sake of the D3's miracle high ISO performance. Now I won't claim it to be true or not, but I will say I am doubting it.How would the performance honestly be if you had a 24mp sensor and you combined the photosites together via software only to be separated at a later date..via software, there goes the miracle ISO performance. What I believe is that the D3 and D3(?) will share the most recent firmware, hence the string in the firmware code revealing a resolution of 24mp, in the current D3. Lost? Well look at this then follow the links, make sure you read about 99% of the posts it well make more sense if you do.

Now Nikon is not saying anything, and I wont make any claims niether should you....Just sit and wait it out, that's the best thing TO do.
